Frequently Asked Questions

How do I open a UB Foundation Account?

Submit this account setup form to request a UBF Account.

Who can make a deposit?

Anyone can make a deposit. You have to have signatory control to process a disbursement.

When will the funds be available?

The funds will be available at the time you make the deposit. Be sure to tell your accounts payable clerk that you made a recent deposit.

How will I be notified if a bank returns a check I deposited?

As soon as the bank notifies the UB Foundation, we will return the item to you with supporting documentation from the bank. A $10 bank-imposed charge will be reflected for each bounced check.

What if I have a check not payable to UBF that I need to deposit to my account?

If the check is made payable to an individual, that person needs to endorse the back of the check with his or her signature and note “payable to UBF.” If a check is made payable to another UB entity, we will send it to him or her for endorsement.

How do I send my deposit to UBF?

Deposits can be received via campus mail, U.S. mail or hand delivery to our offices. (We require cash to be hand-delivered.) Addresses are:

  • Campus Mail: UB Foundation, Center for Tomorrow, North Campus
  • U.S. Mail: UB Foundation, P.O. Box 900, Buffalo, NY 14226-0900

Can a foreign check not drawn on a U.S. or Canadian bank be deposited?

Yes, payments greater than $150 will be sent for collection. It can take 4 to 6 weeks to collect the funds. Funds will not be deposited until collected. Due to increasing collection fees, it is recommended that payments from foreign countries are made with a credit card or have the funds wired to the bank.

Acceptable foreign checks for deposit must be drawn on a U.S. bank and have banking routing and accounts numbers along bottom portion of check. This type of check can be for any amount.

Are there fees associated with service transactions?

Please see this page regarding administrative fees.
